“The World Is Fun”: T-Shirt
Project
Design of a graphic with the slogan “Fun for all and all for fun” for a t-shirt.
About the client:
The World is Fun (TWIF) is devoted to introducing individuals, businesses and those in need, and encouraging them to participate in a creative community that enriches Seattle with the common belief that: yes, the world is fun.
The t-shirts will be sold at events and online to promote TWIF.
Design process
First ideas:
Type explorations, and ideas on how to break up the very long slogan in a way that is easier to read. I liked the way the upper left emphasizes the words “Fun for All”.
Iterations:
When I presented the initial ideas, clients agreed with typographic treatment of “Fun for All”, but also liked the circles of the one at the top right. It reminded them of bubbles, sunset, paint splashes and confetti, all happy and fun associations.
It was also suggested to complete the circle as a reminder of the word “world” in the company name.
The clients liked the upper right the best, but we decided to put the URL on the sleeve.
Color choices:
After choosing some t-shirt colors from the printer’s website, I explored colors that would go well with them.
We did a poll with volunteers and employees of “TWIF”, and the winner was no. 4 (slate), closely followed by no. 3 (jade).
